چکیده
The characteristics of the paranasal sinuses (maxillary, frontal, sphenoid and ethmoid sinuses) are information great relevance to Forensic Sciences, as their images can be used for human identification purposes. Due particularities, provide valuable identification, reducing risk errors during investigation by experts. Such structures visualized from several imaging exams. This study evaluates possibilities through analysis sinuses, well effectiveness in estimating sex, age ancestry. A comprehensive search was performed PubMed, SciELO, LILACS, Web Science databases. As inclusion criteria, texts that addressed subject were selected. Imaging maxillary is a useful tool ancestry; usually provides high level accuracy. Regarding sinus, research indicated verify its use no publications on this specific found. Additional must carried out (especially three-dimensional sinuses), develop standardized protocols, improving work experts, helping justice society.

Disorders of the Paranasal Sinuses
Inflammation of the equine paranasal sinuses is a relatively uncommon disease that may be caused by primary bacterial or mycotic infections (Mason 1975a), or can be secondary to dental disease (van der Velden & Verzijlenberg 1984, Scott 1987, Tremaine & Dixon 2001a), facial trauma, sinus cysts, progressive ethmoid hematoma or sinonasal neoplasia (Mansmann & Wheat 1973, Gibbs & Lane 1987, Tremai...

It is produced by Actinomyces Israelii, gram positive anaerobic bacteria that are very difficult to culture, and a commensal saprophyte of the oral cavity (tonsillar crypts, saliva and gingival dental sulci) and the gastro-intestinal tract; it becomes a pathogen in the face of erosions of the oropharyngeal mu...
متن کامل[Aspergillosis of the nose and paranasal sinuses].
Aspergillosis is becoming an increasingly recognized pathogen in the sinonasal tract. The courses of two patients, one seemingly healthy and one with a terminal malignancy, are reviewed. These patients illustrate the clinical course, difficulties in diagnosis, and management of patients with aspergillosis of the sinonasal tract. Aspergillus is a common endogenous contaminant of the upper respir...
متن کاملNitric oxide and the paranasal sinuses.
The discovery within the paranasal sinuses for the production of nitric oxide (NO) has altered the traditional explanations of sinus physiology. This review article reports the ongoing investigation of sinus physiology beginning with the discovery of NO gas production in the paranasal sinuses that occurred in 1995, and the impact that finding has had both in the basic science and clinical arena...
